Panoramic city tour + visit to the Cathedral of our Savoir
This tour is a great start to your trip and the best way to get acquainted with many of the city's major highlights.
Our professional guide will escort you on a route that includes the Vorobyevy Hills where you will get an incredible
view of the city from an observation point. From here you will proceed to the Moscow State University which provides
examples of architecture approved and favored by Stalin. From there it is on to the Novodevichiy Convent, the Diplomatic Village,
Victory Park, the Triumphal Arch, Kutuzovsky Prospect, the Arbat and much more.

Kremlin, Red Sq, Kremlin Cathedrals, Armory & Diamond Fund
The Kremlin is truly a collection of fascinating structures. It is an ancient tower, the city's former military fortification, a palace,
an armory, the sovereign treasury, and the workplace of the Russian President. Red Square is within the Kremlin's walls. Among the sights
included in the tour are the Mausoleum of Lenin, the History Museum, the beautiful Church of St Basil the Blessed, Kazansky Cathedral and many other
outstanding pieces of Russian architecture. The Armory presents ancient Russian regalia, examples of the ceremonial dress of the Tsars,
church hierarchs vestments, gold and silverware by Russian, European and Eastern masters, arms and armor, royal carriages and horse
ceremonial harnesses. The final stop is the fabulous Diamond Fund. It originally contained the treasury of Russia
and the crowned jewels of the Russian Tsars and is filled with diamonds, gold, and Faberge Eggs, among other treasures.

Tretiakov Gallery
Tour of the Tretiakov State Gallery. This world famous gallery contains works of Russian art at the beginning of the 10th
century through today. You will view exquisite Russian icons and paintings from the 18th and 19th century including works by the
most beloved of Russian painters to include Rublyov, Karavak, Vishnyakov, Nikitin, Antropov, Levitsky, Kiprensky, Tropinin, Fedotov,
Repin and many others. This museum provides more of the famous Russian Itinerant painters than any in the world.

City walking tour down Nevsky Prospect including visit of St. Peter and Paul Fortress
A great introduction to St. Petersburg is in store for visitors who enjoy walking. Dr. Donnelly will take you down the famous Nevsky Prospect,
to Palace Square which is home to the Winter Palace the home of the Tsars. You will hear interesting stories and legends about the history of
these places and the city itself. You will also visit the Peter and Paul Fortress. The fortress founded by Peter the Great in 1703.
The fortress includes the Peter and Paul Cathedral which is the burial place of the Russian Tsars. There is also the former prison at
Trubetskoy Bastion and the Imperial Mint museum which are very interesting places to visit. It is also possible to walk along the walls of the
fortress and observe the fabulous architecture of the surrounding areas.

Tour of rivers and canals
St. Petersburg is a city of canals and you will have an unforgettable experience while taking this tour. There is nothing more relaxing than
basking in the sun and observing the fascinating architecture of the former Imperial capitol. There are always interesting Russians to see as
you cruise the canals and picture it as it must have been when Peter the Great rode some of these same canals centuries ago.
In the course of your trip you will see all the major rivers and canals of the city. You will pass by old mansions and palaces and hear about
their former owners: tsars and princes, rascals and lovers alike.

Hermitage museum tour
The Hermitage is one of the greatest museums in the world. The museum consists of nine palaces including the unique Winter Palace - the residence
of the Russian Tsars. The museum contains over 3 million pieces of art with dates ranging from antiquity to the present day. Among the Hermitage's
treasures are artworks by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt, Rubens and a large collection of impressionists and post impressionists
including Matisse and Picasso as well as too many others to name.

St. Isaacs Cathedral
One of the finest architectural constructions of the XIX century, the former principal cathedral of the Russian capital has a capacity to
accommodate 14,000 people. The cathedral is graced with 112 solid granite columns, 400 relief's and bronze sculptures and wonderful mosaics.
The observation platform on the colonnade provides a magnificent view of the city. There are nearly 300 steps to the top but the view is
more than worth the climb.

the only foreign director on the board.)

Tour to Peterhof (Petrodvorets)
Peterhof is a jewel of Russian art - a town of parks, palaces and fountains. It began as a favorite duck hunting place for Peter the Great
and became an exquisite summer residence of the Russian Tsars. The parks include over 170 fountains and 4 monumental cascades. Within the residence,
there are 10 museums. It is to say the least a magnificent example of Russian Baroque architecture.

Visit to the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Peterhof
A Visit to this beautiful church built in early Byzantine style is worth the trip to Peterhof by itself. It is a functioning church, where you can
climb up to the very top and enjoy a bird's eye view of the Imperial grounds adorned with palaces.

St. Petersburg Metro tour
On our way back from Peterhof you will have a great opportunity to see the first and the most beautiful line of the St. Petersburg Metro, built
primarily in the 1950s. Most of the stations are faced with marble and decorated with ornate bronze chandeliers honoring the soldiers, poets,
scientists and working people of the old Soviet Union.

Russian Museum tour
The Mikhailovsky Palace which houses the Russian Museum was built at the beginning of the XIX century for the junior son of Emperor Paul,
Prince Michael. It became a museum of Russian art at the end of the XIX century. Its collections boast the great works of outstanding Russian masters.
The museum also owns collections of sculpture, applied art and numismatics.

Cathedral of the Savior on the Spilled Blood
This most beautiful cathedral was built in early Russian style and boasts onion shaped domes and a multi colored facade. The cathedral stands on
the place where Tsar Alexander I, the Tsar Liberator was assassinated by terrorists. It is noted for its extremely beautiful mosaics and
location by the canal.

Tour to Pushkin & Pavlovsk
The Palace and Park of Tsarskoye Selo is a former Imperial summer residence of the Russian court. The center of Tsarskoye Selo is Catherine's Palace,
containing the world famous Amber room, exquisite decorative objects, furniture, Russian and Western-European paintings, unique collections of
porcelain and amber.

Tour to Pavlovsk
Pavlosk was built in the late XVIII and early XIX centuries, as a residence for Emperor Paul I and his family. Residential rooms of the Empress
Maria Fedorovna are enrapturing with their harmonious beauty and are open the public.

Day trip to Novgorod - one of the ancient cities of Russia
At 8.00 AM, our driver will pick you up to depart for Novgorod. Novgorod is one of Russia's most ancient cities. It is about 3 hours drive
from St .Petersburg and will give you an opportunity to see the Russian countryside. Your guide will be a professor of Ancient Russian Art,
Dr. Valery Shilov from the Academy of Arts.
Your first impression of the oldest walled city in Russia will be the Kremlin. It was first built as early as in 864. Within those historic
walls is the cathedral of St. Sophia, the oldest and the holiest church in Russia.
You will eat lunch at an 800-year old church converted into the restaurant "Detinets". The menu consists of old Russian dishes popular in ancient Novgorod. (Dr. Donnelly and his colleague Dr. Shilov like to drink mead.) Yes it is the same mead you used to read about in books about knights of old.
In the afternoon, you will travel by bus to the open-air museum of wooden architecture "Vitoslavisty. The museum consists of old wooden houses,
huts, and churches brought from all over the Novgorod region.
Shopping is extremely reasonable in Novgorod in October and your guide will help keep the prices down as low as possible.

Yusupov Palace tour
This is an extremely interesting palace tour. The building is notable both for its beauty and for the historical events that have taken place
within its walls. During our visit you will admire the elaborate ceremonial rooms, a unique home theater and the cozy basement drawing-rooms,
associated with the assassination of Gregory Rasputin. The gift shop is expensive but Dr. Donnelly can negotiate a discount for you if you find a
treasure you must have.
Lunch that day will take place at the elegant restaurant of the Yusupov Palace favoring the dishes served at the table of the illustrious Yusupov family.
The restaurant is currently under restoration and we are anxious to see what the updated version will look like.

Alexander Nevsky Lavra (Monastery)
|
The largest monastery in Russia, the Alexander Nevsky Lavra was built near the place where Grand Prince Alexander won his victory over the Swedes
and the Teutonic Knights in 1240. Alexander is also buried inside the Lavra. Today it is an active monastery and church. Visitors will have a very
Russian experience here - it is a very traditional Orthodox Church. The monastery is also notable for its graveyard. In the graveyard, Tchaikovsky,
Borodin, Rimksy Korsakov, Mussorgsky, Glinka, Dostoevsky, Lumonosov, and others are buried.
